MARLBORO, N.J., Aug. 18, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Love & Romance. Seasons & Holidays. Ocean & Sky. And flowers. Lot's of flowers.
These are just some recurring images and themes brimming in the virtual pages of Laura Grossman's ebook collection of word pictures entitled 'The Sighing of the Winter Trees: Beautiful Poetry from season to season.' After writing poetry for the pure joy of creation, Grossman began attending poetry readings and shared her words. After receiving encouraging feedback, she decided to share her collection with the world.
The collection features over 210 poems, offering reflections on a variety of topics besides those already mentioned. The buoyant feeling of blooming love. The joyous surprise of receiving a gift of delicious chocolates. The passage of time—and ticking of clocks. Ringing bells and humming guitars. Autumn leaves, the bright summer sun, and frigid winter storms. Many themes are treated throughout in different ways. Themes and seasons are often, but not always, clustered in related groupings.
"Ultimately, my poetry is intended to help readers get around a rough world," says Grossman. "I want to inspire readers to live a better life—to recognize the beauty in the joy, sorrow, pleasure, and pain of life—and to make lemonade out of lemons."
One poem, 'A Cup of Sunshine,' touches upon just that theme.
A cup of sunshine
When we make lemonade
Out of lemons until the
Sun come in to our lives
Once again
Most of the poems are short, with most comprising twelve lines or fewer. Readers may savor the individual scent and flavor of each poem, one at a time, or take in the whole bouquet in a single sitting.
"When having a bad day, a reader can open up my poetry ebook on their phone or e-reader, and find comfort," says the author. Her poem 'Like Sailboats at Sea' includes the following encouragement when the storms of life become overwhelming:
In the midst of
A winter storm
Think of the
Joyous days our
Hearts whispered
Think of the joyous days…
'The Sighing of the Winter Trees' will encourage readers to think of just such days. And many other days worth remembering, too.
