BOSTON, Feb. 12, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Today, PreVeil, the provider of end-to-end encrypted email and file sharing, announces the release of its white paper designed to educate and instruct small to large Department of Defense (DoD) contractors on compliance with the new Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC). This white paper comes on the heels of the January 31st release by Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment Ellen Lord of CMMC v1.0. The CMMC v1.0 makes clear that all contractors must achieve cybersecurity mandates appropriate to their level to be eligible to bid on contracts with the DoD.

CMMC v1.0 confirms and clarifies the DoD's five levels of security standards and reaffirms that self-attestation to a standard is no longer a path to compliance. Going forward, all companies' data security practices must be audited and certified if they wish to conduct business with the DoD.
The new standard also emphasizes the department's commitment to ensuring CMMC is not a burden on small to medium sized companies.
