Dr. Spellman was selected for this competitive yearlong opportunity during which she will expand her expertise in facial plastic surgery under the mentorship of Dr. Clevens. Trained at Yale, Harvard Medical School and the University of Michigan, Dr. Clevens has practiced in Melbourne for more than 20 years. Dr. Spellman is the fourth surgical fellow Dr. Clevens has hosted for advanced training at his practice, which has become a center for learning for new and seasoned facial plastic surgeons alike to develop their skills in surgery and practice management.
Dr. Spellman is Board Certified in Otolaryngology and Facial Plastic Surgery by the American Osteopathic Board of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery. With nearly a decade of experience as a physician, Dr. Spellman most recently practiced in South Florida where she specialized in general otolaryngology, head and neck surgery, and facial plastic surgery. Her advanced training includes a surgical internship and residency in Otolaryngology and Facial Plastic Surgery with Michigan State University's Beaumont Hospital, where she served as Chief Resident. She completed medical school at the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Pennsylvania, where she was a member of the honorary service fraternity Sigma Sigma Phi. Prior to attending medical school, Dr. Spellman graduated Magna Cum Laude from the State University of New York at Fredonia with a Biology degree. Dr. Spellman has pursued numerous continuing education and research opportunities on topics of interest to her including reconstructive surgery, rhinoplasty and the role of collagen-stimulating soft tissue fillers for facial rejuvenation. Dr. Spellman donated her time and surgical skill as part of a medical mission trip throughout Guatemala that served 2500 patients.
