Grammy-nominated producers get Lyons a distribution deal with Bungalo-Universal.
NEW YORK, June 14, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- When you hear the music of Tony Lyons, you might describe it as simultaneously "futuristic" and "nostalgic" pop. And, according to the Grammy-nominated Palermo brothers, who produced Tony's new album, both descriptions are accurate. While Tony's music has a recognizable quality, it's delivered in a distinctly different way.
His new single, "Tina," distributed by Bungalo-Universal Group, offers a bilingual mega mix for the masses. Tony's sound is as diverse as his musical influences, from his soulful tenor and lyrical style to his catchy hooks. On his forthcoming album, you'll hear him channeling the smoothness of Luther, the wildness of Freddie Mercury, and the confidence of Bruno Mars— all to the beat of his own keyboard (and his own lyrics)."Tina is a sexy song about the love you've always wanted but never got," said singer, songwriter Tony Lyons. It's the forbidden fruit kinda love. Blending the three voices was so dope because it is literally three different approaches to one track and it works."
Tony, the son of Jamaican parents, wrote his first song at 14 in homage to his birthplace and the best NYC borough: The Bronx. Growing up there, he attended a performing arts middle school (shout-out to M.S. 180), where he was classically trained in ballet, tap, jazz, and modern dance. In pursuit of reaching triple-threat status—dancing, singing, and business—Tony wrote and recorded his first LP in 2017, which featured "Pegasus," and then a series of singles in 2019. Live performances from NYC to London followed…until COVID-19 shut down live concerts. Like other artists, he spent the lockdowns writing, recording, and planning his next move.
The single "Tina" is available on several streaming platforms, including Spotify and Apple Music. "When you hear it, you want to dig in deeper."
Lyons continued, "When it comes to my collaborators, it was truly a perfect moment. I was in Rochester recording the original version of "Tina," and I didn't like it. A.R. was in the session and gave me advice on how to approach it and at that moment, I asked him to jump on the recording, and he did. Then Cha Boi was in the studio finishing his session, and I played it for him, and he liked it, too. I hadn't come up with a bridge yet, so I asked him to jump on the track, and that's how he ended up performing on the single, too. To learn more about Tony Lyons, please visit officialtonylyons.com.
