VANCOUVER, British Columbia (PRWEB) May 03, 2018 -- The International Society for Biological and Environmental Repositories (ISBER) is pleased to announce the signature of an Affiliate Agreement with National BioService LLC (NBS).
“The field of biobanking is expanding globally as it provides the foundation upon which vital medical, environmental, and pharmaceutical research takes place. The release of the ISBER Best Practices 4th Edition will introduce further standardization of the field and boost professionalism,” said Dr. Zisis Kozlakidis, President of ISBER. “We are delighted that ISBER is collaborating with a strong leader in biobanking in Russia. Working together, NBS and ISBER will provide guidance and support to biobanks nationally, to the Russian-speaking world and internationally. This agreement highlights the opportunity for us to share knowledge and consensus around biobanking practices, and reconcile any differences.”
The agreement will facilitate communication, cooperation, and partnership opportunities between ISBER and NBS. The two organizations will collaborate to produce materials for clinical biobanking in both English and Russian and aim to work towards a freely-available Russian translation of the ISBER Best Practices: Recommendations for Repositories 4th edition.
“The mission and vision of NBS is to facilitate the creation of a National Biobanking Platform in Russia, which will be fully compliant and follow Best Practices of biobanking established by ISBER. Making such Best Practices accessible to organizations engaged in creating biobanks in Russia is an essential means of disseminating this crucially important information and thus integrating Russian biobanks in the global innovative R&D processes in medicine," said Dr. Vitali Proutski, Director of NBS.
ISBER and NBS also look forward to investigating the feasibility of a joint ISBER/NBS meeting in the future.
