BOCA RATON, Fla., Nov. 2, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Liliedahl Art Videos has released a new instructional video from Cheri Christensen titled "Cheri Christensen: Brushwork & Backlight."
For artists who love the effects of light and texture, and want to learn how to put these into their own works of art, this new video from Cheri Christensen will do just that! In this video, animal artist extraordinaire Cheri Christensen shows artist how to paint two backlit chicks using varied brushwork to help capture fluffy feathers, nooks and crannies on tiny beaks, and the smooth background. As she shows artists how to paint wet-into-wet with oils, she also demonstrates how to manipulate hard and soft edges along with warm and cool colors to give the painting a vibrant look and make the colors sing!
Early in her career, Cheri found the right teacher, who taught a method she wanted to learn. Working with Ron Lukas, a protégé of Russian Impressionist Sergei Bongart, Cheri developed her own distinctive style of painting. Starting with painting portraits and still lifes, she realized light was her true subject of choice, and her love of animals a natural way to portray the effects of light. Follow along with Cheri's new video and learn how to become more confident in loosening up those brushstrokes while using backlighting and color to give life to your paintings.
"If you want to do something badly enough, you will put yourself out there and just do it," the artist says.
Christensen adds, "I am inspired by the simple everyday interaction of animals in their environment: the way the light dances across the form, the harmony of color relationships, and the shapes of light and shadow. I prefer early-morning light or late-afternoon settings, with extreme backlighting. My focus is on animals, their character, and the use of color, light, and texture to convey a mood."
