New Autobiography Promotes Hope After Intergenerational Abuse
SPRINGFIELD, Vt. (PRWEB) June 10, 2019 -- Author Vicky Bedi expresses in her autobiography, “Whisper of Hope, Cry of Despair”, that her encounters with abuse have not made her a victim, but a survivor who seeks to help others stop the cycle of abuse. The book provides a moving account of how her life has been molded by the actions of her family members and how they contributed to the mental and physical abuse she suffered from over the course of many years.
A family of Slavic immigrants who came to the New World during the 1900’s, Bedi details how her family history includes horrific actions including murder, suicide and incest. The shame and guilt the family felt contributed to a dysfunctional upbringing that Bedi has since accepted and written about in an effort to help others who find themselves in similar situations.
“My goal is that this book will help increase compassion and understanding of abused and neglected people,” the author said.
In addition, readers learn more about Bedi’s relationship with her mentally ill mother and see how the neglect the author endured could have left her on the wrong path in life. Bedi expresses how she found acceptance during her eye-opening work at the National Center for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Her time there taught her empathy for others and importantly, gave her an increased understanding of the complex nature of mental illness.
‘Whisper of Hope, Cry of Despair’ is a compelling look at the author’s experience with abuse in hopes that other survivors of abusive family situations can better identify dysfunctional relationships and develop the courage to move forward.
