ADELAIDE, Australia, April 27, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Dr. John M. Miller ventures into the world of publishing to give readers a glimpse into the fascinating life of a dedicated obstetrician and gynecologist.
"A Hard Day at the Orifice" (published by Xlibris AU) is a very personal account that provides unique insights into the training, practice and experiences of a dedicated obstetrician and gynecologist, as well as the history and unusual facts relating to the profession. Offering fascinating stories and quirky anecdotes, Miller reminisces his long career as an obstetrician, gynecologist and specialist surgeon, the professors, mentors and colleagues he worked with, and the thousands of brave women who entrusted him with what they regarded as the most important times of their lives.
"It will always be relevant in every society and era because reproduction and childbirth concerns us all," the author states, on his book's relevance. "The content presents, with a great deal of wit, verve and charm, information concerning intimate and interesting matters affecting every family."
Although there are descriptions of surgical operations and medical procedures, "A Hard Day at the Orifice" is far from a textbook. Besides being of interest to peers and medical colleagues, the book makes fascinating reading for the layman readers. About the Author
Dr. John M. Miller's parents were brought up in the Great Depression. His father was a major in the intelligence unit of the Australian army in World War II and was decorated for bravery in the face of enemy action. Miller won scholarships to pay throughout for his education at the prestigious Prince Afred College. He represented the school in intercollegiate tennis and Australian Rules football. On leaving, he was awarded the prize for the best all-round student. A vocational guidance test recommended medicine as a career, which in fact had been his long-standing ambition. A bursary paid for his university education at Adelaide medical school. While an obstetric resident medical officer and registrar, Miller discovered a passion and affinity for the specialty. He went on to gain the necessary qualifications: fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (London) and fellow of the Royal Australian College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He is also a specialist surgeon and is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. "A Hard Day at the Orifice" is his first publication.
