Dorrel L. Green-Briggs announces the release of 'Caribbean Women's Migration'
HAROLD HILL, England, Nov. 3, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- New release "Caribbean Women's Migration: Windrush Era Housing Experiences and Aspirations" (published by AuthorHouse UK) from first-time author Dorrel L. Green-Briggs is a qualitative case-study analysis of eight London-based women and the history behind Caribbean migration to the United Kingdom from the 1940s.
This book tells the stories of eight women from the British Caribbean region, who came to England following the aftermath of World War II, to help rebuild Britain's infrastructure, as well as working to make a better life for themselves. Their stories are told through their housing history and relay the challenges that they faced as a British Commonwealth immigrant newly arrived in the United Kingdom. Moreover, the book also looks at housing and tenure acquisition then and now, and the reoccurrence of particular trends in the housing market today and the impact on the younger generation and in highlighting the need for workable solutions. It seeks to nurture in today's society an appreciation of British society in an earlier historical era and knowledge of the struggles that have paved the way for successive generations.
"The overall theme of the book is about self-help, empowerment, and determinism," the author states. "I would like my readers to take away a sense of commonality of the human experience and how different cultural identities can continue to strive, grow and work together. Passing on knowledge; learning from past history, in continuing to develop a more harmonious and inclusive society."
