New Book Examines Abuses Against Women And Offers Advice For Recovery
REDONDO BEACH, Calif. (PRWEB) April 17, 2019 -- Clinical psychologist, Lucy Papillon Ph.D. blends personal narratives with useful tools to explore rape culture and empower women and those suffering from abuse to participate in their own journey toward awareness and recovery in her new book, ““How Dare You!” Insidious Ways Women Are (Mis)treated: The #MeToo Movement: A Memoir, Experiences of Others and How to Heal” (published by Archway Publishing).
According to Papillon, the #MeToo movement has revealed an insidious epidemic that plagues society. With sexual assault, it can take years for victims to find their voice and speak up. The book aims to ease the isolation for those too traumatized to speak about their experiences. The author includes her own experiences as well as case studies from 18 years of clinical practice.
“The book speaks to a much larger audience than what it seems on the surface,” Papillon says. “I want (readers) to realize they do not need to feel shame or embarrassment. They choose to come forward with their own experiences of sexual misconduct.”
