In the new book “American Values in the Trump Era: A Battle for the Soul of America” (published by Archway Publishing) Jim Boeglin explores how Donald Trump has sought to replace traditional American values with a culture of lies, anger and mean-spirited attacks.

Boeglin makes the case that America’s current president is dangerously unfit for the office, is mentally and emotionally unstable, and has consistently abused traditional American values, allies, and cherished institutions. From the free press to Congress to the judicial system to the rule of law, he is leading America down a destructive path of dishonesty, incivility, rudeness, division, obstruction, and chaos, according to the author.

“The president appears to only be concerned about himself, and has become vulnerable to the control of foreign authoritarian leaders,” Boeglin says. The author compares and contrasts how traditional values such as honesty and integrity, respect for others, and truthfulness have fared under this president. “They are simply not part of his makeup, and American citizens need to remove Trump from office, either through the impeachment process or the 2020 election.”

An excerpt from the book reads:
These are not normal times in America, just as the nineteen thirties were not normal times in Germany. Dark forces are at work to change the very essence of what it means to be an American.
