New Book Explores Phases of Love, Relationships Through Illustrated Poetry
AVIGNON, France (PRWEB) April 09, 2018 -- Combining haïku in a nonstandard, four-line format and abstract “happenstance” illustrations, Nyuka Anaïs Laurent explores the phases of romantic relationships in her collection entitled “Anaïku” (published by Trafford Publishing).
In “Anaïku,” Laurent shares an original collection of haïku poems that deviates from the classic haïku format with its four lines. The center of each set of two facing pages presents the author’s black and white ink drawings, which readers can interpret freely.
According to Laurent, her illustrated poetry book attempts to lay bare a change in mentality concerning love, marriage and divorce. The author hopes to provide readers a reason to delve into understanding relationships and to promote acceptance of the self and one’s different roles.
“Anaïku” is grounded in Laurent’s learning process from an idyllic love that fell apart 15 years later. “The process was long and difficult, both emotional and psychological. I wish to share the various steps the relationship endured,” the author adds.
