I want to encourage people to be thankful. I want them to look beyond their present circumstances and see where they can surmount the odds and rise above self-pity.

Christian author and educator J. B. Powell has released her second book, “The Greatness of Gratitude,” a motivational guide to living a life rooted in the biblical discipline of gratitude. Drawing from her background in theology and faith-based education, Powell illustrates why exercising thankfulness is beneficial to the mind, body and spirit, and provides 30 days of devotions to help readers grow and nurture an attitude of gratitude.

In “The Greatness of Gratitude,” Powell invites readers to take inventory of their lives, evaluating which areas may benefit from gratefulness, including work, finances and relationships. Her goal with the book is to show readers that choosing to live a thankful life through the ups and the downs can help them improve their mindset, strengthen their relationships with others and, ultimately, move them closer to God.

“I want to encourage people to be thankful,” Powell said. “I want them to look beyond their present circumstances and see where they can surmount the odds and rise above self-pity. I believe ingratitude and an unwillingness to love and forgive are unraveling the moral fabric of our country.”

Thought-provoking and full of biblical wisdom, “The Greatness of Gratitude” offers inspiration, encouragement and guidance on how to practice gratefulness every day.
