New Edition of SlamData 2.5 Will Add Enterprise Level Feature Set

SlamData provides a visual analytics interface to the popular MongoDB database, which helps companies rapidly build reporting dashboards, explore semi-structured data sets, and perform ad hoc queries using a powerful dialect of SQL. Built on a formal generalization of 40-year-old relational algebra called MRA (“Murray”), SlamData’s technology allows effortless manipulation and querying of the type of data stored in NoSQL databases. This data is often heavily nested, denormalized, and heterogenous, and cannot be stored in RDBMS, let alone be queried with traditional SQL.
The 2.5 release of SlamData adds a new commercial edition of the open source project. This new edition, called SlamData Advanced, bundles a commercial support agreement with new functionality designed specifically for larger Enterprises and SaaS application vendors. Based on feedback from thousands of SlamData users, SlamData Advanced features focus on three key areas: authentication, authorization and auditing. The new functionality available in SlamData Advanced breaks down as follows:
- Authentication: An authentication module allows for a seamless Single SignOn (SSO) experience with any OpenID Connect 2.0 provider (including Google, Microsoft, and others), which makes it easy for companies to leverage their existing authentication infrastructure to secure SlamData deployments.
- Authorization: An authorization module allows fine grained permissions that can be managed at the level of individuals or groups, which helps companies ensure that corporate data governance policies are followed. Authorizations can be created programmatically and driven by API tokens so that developers can embed SlamData analytics and reporting into their applications, an embedding reporting use case that has been especially popular with SaaS vendors who have built applications on the MongoDB database.
- Auditing: An auditing module provides comprehensive auditing to ensure that companies have detailed insight into the who, what, when and why for all usage of the SlamData application.
- Support: Finally, a bundled commercial support agreement provides guaranteed support for SlamData, including priority bug fixes and input into the roadmap for all editions of the SlamData application.

Since its release a year ago, the number of users of the open source project has swelled into the thousands, including many Fortune 500 companies. Companies are flocking to the project because it's one of the only solutions to bring a self-service analytics interface to the MongoDB database that anyone can use and requires no technical setup of any kind. The company’s patent pending technology, invented by SlamData CTO John A. De Goes, is based on a mathematical generalization of relational algebra, which allows slicing, dicing and aggregation of deeply nested, heterogeneous data of the type often stored in MongoDB. De Goes, a mathematician turned computer scientist and well-known expert in big data analytics, started the open source project almost two years ago.
