New Friends New Life Announces Circle of Friends Membership Drive
Dallas, Texas (PRWEB) June 16, 2015 -- Since 1998, New Friends New Life has been working to restore and empower formerly trafficked and commercially exploited teen girls, women and their children, helping them overcome backgrounds of abuse, addiction, and poverty. The organization recently announced its annual membership drive for its Circle of Friends Group, which supports the nonprofit’s mission through volunteerism, community awareness, and fundraising.
“With the help of our Circle of Friends volunteers and supporters, New Friends New Life is able to make a major impact on the women and teens who desire to leave the slavery of trafficking and start the path to a more promising future,” said New Friends New Life Executive Director Katie Pedigo. “Our programs offer comprehensive support, including access to education, job training, financial assistance, and more.”
With an estimated 400 trafficked teens and an untold number of women on the streets of Dallas each night, human trafficking is a major issue impacting the local community. Beyond North Texas, human trafficking is a statewide concern. Texas ranks second in the country from the most human trafficking.
“So many of us exist in our modern, 21st century bubble and only imagine human trafficking as a problem of ancient history,” said Christa Sanford, president of the New Friends New Life Circle of Friends board. “New Friends New Life bravely acknowledges the real, sexual exploitation of women and girls in our very own city, this city we call home. New Friends New Life’s courage, while remarkable and active in providing pathways and holistic support, is only dwarfed by the bravery of these women and girls who come out on the other side of their circumstances.”
Circle of Friends memberships directly support the programs provided by New Friends New Life for the more than 1,000 teen girls and women the organization serves annually. These essential resources help serve as the initial building blocks toward a life free from degradation and harm.
“I am proud to be involved with the Circle of Friends and New Friends New Life who continue to impact the lives of women and girls in Dallas,” added Sanford. “Please consider joining the Circle of Friends to help change the face of our home.”
