New Horizons Computer Learning Centers of South Florida, the leading IT educator for individuals and corporations and CompTIA, the world’s leading tech association are offering their IT Fundamentals Training course virtually and free of charge for individuals looking to explore the potential for a career in IT. The program is a live instructor-led course including real-world exercises and interactive discussions from professionals in the industry.

While the U.S. unemployment rate has recently declined to 13.3%, millions still remain out of work amid the pandemic. Many of which are now looking for a new career path in different industries.

“As a leading IT training company, providing this free course is one of the ways we’re contributing to the rebuilding of our local economy and beginning the road to recovery,” said Charlene Talbot, Executive Director, New Horizons Computer Learning Centers, South Florida. “The IT Fundamentals Training Course provides students and professionals looking for a change the opportunity to learn basic computer fundamentals that can be used to launch their careers. By the end of this course, students will have a good sense of the skills needed to pursue a career in IT, and can choose to further develop their knowledge with additional education.”

The virtual two-day training is tailored toward professionals who have little to no prior tech experience. It includes fundamental training from setting up a computer workstation with basic software applications to identifying security issues in a network.

The course runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for two days. All that’s needed to participate is a computer with internet access, a webcam and microphone, and a can-do attitude. Students will also have an opportunity to participate in a free 30-minute career coaching workshop to get questions answered on a career in IT. A free 30-day library of course content will also be available to students at the completion of the training.
