New Life House welcomes Martha Lockie as their Director of Community Outreach
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) January 29, 2014 -- Martha Lockie’s function is about exploring opportunities for New Life House to be of maximum service wherever they are needed and to give the public accurate information about their mission and role. Her first mission is co-creating the LOVE campaign with owner, Mike Joly {LOVE = Love Outreach Volunteer Educate} and encompasses several outreach events geared to benefit the South Bay neighborhoods specifically.
Founded on the steps and traditions of Alcoholics Anonymous, the concepts of Unity, Recovery and Service are the guiding principles at New Life House. Martha has joined the team to bring a more detailed vision of the service component to both the business feature at New Life House and the young men who temporarily reside there.
Part of Martha’s work will also be in educating the public about the role of a sober living home in their community. By keeping the property attractively groomed, adhering to strict parking guidelines, curbing smoking areas, helping neighbors with trash cans, exhibiting positive neighborly relations, giving back to local neighborhoods in which the houses reside, and hosting events under the LOVE umbrella, New Life House hopes to educate the community in regards to what they can expect from a sound sober living.
18 to 32 year old addicts and alcoholics tend to exhibit more selfish behavior than the average person, and are typically busy thinking about getting what they want. By adding a service component to their template, New Life House demonstrates how performing good works generates positive feelings for everyone. This is a far cry from recovery models that seek to attract high paying clients through a foundation of fancy features such as hours of self-reflective therapy, yoga, massage, facials, sober coaches and various beach activities.
Currently in their 29th year of giving young men a second chance at life, New Life House believes that their community recovery model means nothing unless taken into the world after they leave the house. The hundreds of sober members who continue to play an active role in their recovery community are the measure of their achievement.
The reward of service related work and it’s value to the world as a whole is held in high esteem at New Life House and owner, Mike Joly thought it was time to create an official position for this moving forward.
New Life House is pleased to have Martha Lockie as the newest addition to the team.
