New NASFAA Resources Help Schools Fight to Protect Critical Financial Aid Programs
Washington, D.C. (PRWEB) September 21, 2017 -- With the approach of budget season in Congress, many federal financial aid programs for college students are on the chopping block, with billions of dollars in student aid under threat. The National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA) is offering its member institutions resources and information on how to make their voices heard in the Fight for Financial Aid (#Fight4FinAid).
“Proposals to cut federal student aid program budgets would close the door for countless students nationwide who rely on financial aid to pay for college, taking away valuable resources from low- and middle-income students,” NASFAA President Justin Draeger said. “It is imperative that the higher education community, students, and families advocate against such budget cuts and show their support for robust federal financial aid programs.”
NASFAA’s Fight for Financial Aid Organizing Guide is designed to assist all student aid advocates, including institutions of higher education, students and student governments, and community leaders. In this guide, institutions will find information on how to make their voices heard in the Fight for Financial Aid. Organizing a rally, visiting with your member of Congress, posting on social media – all are opportunities to educate people about the importance of federal student aid and motivate them to get involved. NASFAA also offers tips on how to hold an effective rally in support of financial aid, such as the one it hosted at its 2017 National Conference in San Diego, CA.
