It was an all smiles day when OrthoIllinois opened their doors to a large crowd of new patients for the first time at their stunning new facility in Algonquin, IL.
Opened a month early and nearly $200,000 under budget the project far exceeded OrthoIllinois’ expectations for their new clinic. At the recent grand opening ceremony Don Schreiner, CEO of OrthoIllinois, and his executives were ecstatic with the early signs of triumph.
Opening early means treating patients who would otherwise wait for care. In his address to the large assembly Mr. Schreiner singled out the project’s manager Frank Talbert, CEO of ObraWerks for his leadership on the project.
How It Was Done:
Asked about the memorable achievement Talbert said, “I harnessed the power of the entire team by bringing them to the table simultaneously. All stakeholders were present, building and design professionals with OrthoIllinois’ staff.
I created an atmosphere of transparency and collaboration where together we deconstructed the drawings as they were projected on the wall. This process prior to the GMP was the guarantee of our success.” During construction, the team maintained its commitment.
On a weekly basis OrthoIllinois committed one of their highest-ranking executives Mr. David Rezin their COO to attend. This made for quick and informed decisions from the Owner. Importantly there came a point in mid construction that the key team members in those meetings came to know, like and trust each other. From that day forward the energy in the room carried us through the normal challenges of a construction project.
We outwitted those surprises that happen during construction such as the wettest building season in recent memory.
