Co-founder Jay G., a Hurricane Harvey survivor, lost his home in 2017.
Without insurance and with life savings invested in what was now a pile of timber, Jay found strength in the support of his extended family and community.
"So many of our friends prayed for us and showed us immense love which carried us through this difficult time." said Jay.
"We weren't even aware of the scale of support that was sent our way,” he continued. “It would have been wonderful if there had been a way to thank each and every one of them; To tell them how their prayers helped us pull through."
Working to rebuild his home with the help of brother-in-law Jason B., the two friends discussed the role of prayer in their lives; Jay’s experience had taught them that people establish spiritual connections automatically, regardless of location or creed, yet there is a gap in interpersonal connections between people praying, keeping their efforts divided and often unacknowledged.
"We use technology to enhance almost every aspect of our daily lives,” said Jason. “So I thought: Why not use it to enhance how we pray and how we connect in prayer?"
The two brothers-in-law joined forces to create PLinXs, the only app that unites friends and family of various cultural backgrounds in prayer and meditation, as well as allows them to manage their personal spiritual practices.
This innovative prayer and meditation app helps users:
- Stay on track with their prayers, meditation, fasting and other spiritual practices
- Form prayer groups across denominations and creeds
- Ask loved ones to pray for a shared goal, be it health of a family member, support during an AA program or even praying for a football team
- Remember to thank those who have prayed for them and tell them how their prayers have helped
- Keep track of their spiritual metrics
“PLinXs helps you transfer your community online when you are unable to do so in person, as we are now during the health crisis, for instance,” said Jason.
“Users can build prayer groups only with and for the people they know,” he continued. “We wanted to ensure that our users pray in a safe environment, which is particularly important when they are at a vulnerable state.”
The goal of this application is to create a network where reverence for prayer can be maintained while providing a connection between people.
PLinXs is a mobile application designed to enhance individual and collective spiritual practices such as prayer and meditation.
It allows prayers to be logged, managed, shared among culturally diverse communities and acknowledged.
PLinXs is now open for pre-registration.
