New Project Aims to End Human Trafficking in Atlanta
Atlanta, Georgia (PRWEB) November 04, 2017 -- On Saturday, November 4th, two nonprofits are fighting human trafficking in the Atlanta area. The Women of Global Change Atlanta Chapter has teamed up with Wellspring Living on a service project that will have a lasting impact for decades to come in the lives of human trafficking victims.
Our beautiful city leads the nation in human and sex trafficking in the United States, according to a federal study. We cannot be known for this alarming statistic, which is why Atlanta needs to be the battleground for fighting this global scourge. Human trafficking has become an issue in many big cities and especially harbor cities around the U.S. and the world. The Women of Global Change is honored to partner with Wellspring Living and many others have recognized and shared awareness on this growing problem in our own communities, such as Ashton Kutcher, David Beckham and Julia Ormond to name a few.
Join together with the volunteers to renovate 5 apartments by cleaning, painting, and providing new stoves, refrigerators, and bedding, as well as planting a butterfly/meditation garden.
The Woman of Global Change Atlanta Chapter is raising $5000 toward the cost of the renovations of the 5 apartments that will house victims. Corporate sponsors have stepped up with outstanding assistance that will go a long way in fighting this epidemic locally: Sherwin Williams, Home Depot, Kroger, Dunkin Donuts, Special Kneads and Treats Bakery, Chick Fila, Five Star Graphics, Target, TNC Finance Company, Split Second Event Photography, Forten Media, Brand Bank, Madvapes, The LONA Gallery, Wayne T. “This is such an important and worthy cause, and we’d be nowhere without the community behind us. We could not have accomplished any of this if it weren’t for the outstanding committee members, volunteers, and sponsors,” said Women of Global Change Atlanta Chapter President Celeste Giordano.
Women of Global Change are an award-winning, international network of like-minded servant leaders who engage in global business networking to create things bigger than they ever could alone. Members participate in missions and humanitarian service projects for the betterment of themselves, their communities, and the world. This is the first service project for the Atlanta Chapter.
Wellspring is a nonprofit organization that provides a comprehensive long-term program with housing, training, and other resources not only for victims of human trafficking but also young people aging out of foster care with nowhere to go who could easily become victims.
