BOSTON, Nov. 19, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Today, Package Concierge®, the trusted provider of automated locker solutions, is unveiling new insights about multifamily package deliveries in 2019 as part of its first-ever, Total Package Report, an ongoing analysis of transactions and trends. The report, which analyzed properties with 215-235 units from Q1 to Q3 2019, finds the average building is managing nearly 70 package transactions every day, a 17 percent increase year over year. This summer's Amazon Prime Day deliveries resulted in a 10.6 increase since Prime Day 2018.
"The multifamily industry has reached a tipping point for managing the overwhelming number of packages properties receive today, particularly during the busiest shipping season of the year," said Georgianna W. Oliver, founder of Package Concierge. "Package volume continues to increase and is only getting higher, with record numbers of package transactions during the busiest seasons. It is imperative that property owners deploy high-quality, locker systems to ensure the safety and security of their packages, while mitigating clutter in their buildings."
This holiday season, online and other non-store sales are predicted to grow 14 percent, according to the National Retail Federation. Package Concierge processed more than three million transactions during the 2018 holiday season (half a million in just one week in December) - a more than 18 percent increase over the previous year.
"The amount of packages we receive is growing by the day, and without Package Concierge to help us alleviate the congestion and coordination, managing shipments would be a full-time role for our on-site staff especially in November and December," said Rudy Gonzalez, General Manager of Riverbank, New York property and a Bozzuto Management Company. "Because of the ease of use of the Package Concierge automated locker system, our team can focus on providing residents with better customer service, while also ensuring we're delivering an innovative way to manage and protect their packages."
The new report also found residents take an average of more than 22 hours to retrieve packages- which is down about nine percent compared to 2018, when tenants took more than a day to claim their packages.
Package Concierge has processed over 46.7MM transactions at 1,856 properties, and nearly half a million users. The adoption rate for its system is close to 80 percent for those who sign-up to use the Package Concierge app and services.
