New Survey to be Released Wednesday: Unemployed Americans Say COVID-19 Most Responsible for Job Loss
Express Employment Professionals will release a Survey of the Unemployed Wednesday, which offers an in-depth look at COVID-19's impact on the labor force.
OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla., Dec. 7, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- On Wednesday, Express Employment Professionals will release a new national survey of unemployed Americans that looks at the correlation between the COVID-19 pandemic, job loss and continued unemployment months after much of the country shut down to "flatten the curve."
The survey, conducted by The Harris Poll on behalf of Express, reveals 57% of unemployed adults blame COVID-19 for their job loss and 60% believe it is also the reason they are still unemployed. As time goes on, many unemployed adults are becoming insecure about their ability to become employed again (65%) and 85% would be willing to accept a job right now with some aspects that are less than ideal.
The Harris Poll survey also dives into the financial aspects of unemployment, including how prepared unemployed adults were going into this time, how they are paying the bills and the impact of unemployment benefits on household finances.
"The workforce has been hit hard this year by COVID-19, and it's understandable unemployed Americans are becoming more discouraged the longer the pandemic lingers," Express CEO Bill Stoller said. "This new survey gives us great insight into the plight of the unemployed and how they are staying afloat."
