New Year Race Run to Benefit A Place Called Home
(PRWEB) January 05, 2016 -- Ahmed Nashaat and thousands of others ran New Year Race for charity.
Thousands of runners started off the new year by being a part of a great charity event, the New Year’s Race in LA. The event was held on Jan. 3, and the featured charity partner for the event was A Place Called Home.
A Place Called Home is a safe haven in South Central Los Angeles where under-served youth are empowered to take ownership of the quality and direction of their lives through programs in education, arts, and well-being. They are also inspired to make a meaningful difference in their community and the world.
This year, the organization was committed to raising $7,500 to support fitness and nutrition programs for youth in South Los Angeles. Another organization, Jive Live, promised to match up to $5,000 of the funds raised.
Ahmed Nashaat was one of the participants in the New Year’s Race. He participated in the event not only to help the community but as another step in the process of deciding what to do with his life after he graduates with his M.B.A. He would either like to start a non-profit agency or a small business, so events such as this are ideal for Mr. Nashaat to explore his options.
“With the holidays it is important that we give back. This event not only helps others, but it’s a great way to get rid of some of that holiday weight I gained!” Said Mr. Nashaat. “And, events such as this are sure to help me make some important decisions about my future.”
This is not the first year that the New Year’s Race in LA has helped to contribute to the community. In 2014 over 6,000 runners from over 27 countries participated. Runners participated in a half marathon or a 5K course.
