Realtor Dave Newberry Shares First-Time Home-Buying Secrets
Kent, WA (PRWEB) September 09, 2016 -- Many people find the process of buying their first home daunting and confusing, and tend to think emotionally instead of practically. “One of the most important things to remember when buying your first home is to think with your head, not your heart,” said Dave Newberry, broker/owner of Newberry Realty.
To help first-time homebuyers avoid rookie mistakes, Newberry lists the following three tips:
No. 1: Make a checklist. “This should include listing the most important qualities you are looking for in a home,” says Newberry. “You should stay as close to this list as possible, and as your budget allows, when looking at homes.”
No. 2: Do not overspend. First-time homebuyers, stresses Newberry, tend to overspend, and should create a realistic budget and stick to it. The budget, in addition to the cost of the home, should include the cost of new furniture, needed repairs/upgrades, property tax, utilities, etc.
No. 3: Know the neighborhood. “You should always know about the neighborhood you might be moving into before buying a house,” concludes Newberry. “Is it safe? Is it quiet? What are the schools like? A lot of this information can usually be found online, and your Realtor should possess a wealth of knowledge about any neighborhood in their area.”
