NFI Named Inbound Logistics 2016 Green Supply Chain Partner
Cherry Hill, N.J. (PRWEB) June 24, 2016 -- NFI has been selected as a 75 Green Supply Chain Partner (G75) by Inbound Logistics magazine. The annual listing of 75 supply chain companies with a commitment to sustainability is published in the June 2016 edition of Inbound Logistics.
The Inbound Logistics G75 list is a compilation of companies that value sustainability initiatives in their supply chain, logistics, and transportation operations. The list highlights companies that shippers should partner with if their businesses value green practices. The magazine’s editors chose the G75 based on measurable results, sustainability innovation, continuous improvement, and industry recognition.
“NFI is proud to serve as an industry leader in green technology and sustainability,” said NFI CEO Sid Brown. “NFI seeks collaborative customer opportunities for implementation of environmentally friendly technology, allowing for successful business operations while protecting the communities we live.”
NFI continues to propel its customers’ sustainability efforts forward, looking for opportunities of natural gas implementation, integrating new technology to improve aerodynamics and fuel efficiency, and outfitting warehousing with solar panels. Trucks across its 2,300+ dedicated fleet utilize AirTabs, trailer skirts, and speed limiters to decrease fuel usage, and they have pioneered the use of battery powered Auxiliary Powered Units (APUs). The EPA has awarded NFI the SmartWay Excellence award three times in recognition of its sustainability efforts. At the 2016 Advanced Clean Transportation (ACT) Expo, NFI received the Fleet Award for Shippers & Carriers for leadership in sustainability in their transportation operations.
NFI also implements green solutions throughout its 27.5 million square feet of warehousing space. Distribution operations conduct packaging materials recycling and several facilities utilize solar power, including the corporate headquarters in Cherry Hill, N.J. In addition, real estate properties are also built to LEED standards.
