NFI’s Bill Bliem to Speak at JOC Inland Distribution Conference
CHERRY HILL, N.J. (PRWEB) October 18, 2018 -- Bill Bliem, Senior Vice President of Fleet Services at NFI, will speak at the Journal of Commerce (JOC) Inland Distribution Conference taking place October 22 to October 24, 2018 in Oak Brook, Ill. The panel session on October 24, titled “Reinventing the Truck: Will New Technologies Reshape the Truck and Shipping?” will explore the future of the transportation and energy sectors, including the benefits and challenges that shippers might face as heavy-duty trucks are reinvented, and as electric trucks remold the commercial trucking landscape.
During this panel, Bliem and other leading fleet operators will discuss the impact of new truck design and technology on future logistics and energy networks. While diesel engines dominated in the past, electric and autonomous vehicle technology are beginning to trend and revolutionize age-old freight network models. The panel will also review IHS Markit’s findings from a multi-client study of the impact of new truck design and technology on future logistics.
“The trend in e-mobility is pushing shippers to re-shape the processes in which they have operated in the past,” said Bliem. “It’s important for companies to be proactive, rather than reactive within the logistics industry to suit this fast-changing market. As electric trucks and autonomous technology become more prominent, businesses must closely evaluate how these technologies might impact them and align with a 3PL partner that shares their values and vision.”
