LAS VEGAS, Sept. 6, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Longtime hockey fans Laura and Justin Long renewed their vows in a ceremony officiated by Las Vegas professional hockey player Ryan Reaves at Chapel of the Flowers on September 1, 2019. The guests, including their two adorable sons dressed in VGK jerseys, joined the celebration in the exquisite modern La Capella venue on the one-acre property. The total wedding package was valued at approximately $4,000 and included a post-ceremony meet and greet with Ryan, professional photography, wedding florals, planner and day-of wedding coordinator, round-trip limousine service for the couple, music, a live broadcast of the ceremony and a two-night stay at the luxurious boutique Downtown Grand Hotel in Las Vegas.
Laura and Justin's love story began at a Las Vegas BBQ and in July 2015 the couple married in a civil ceremony. Fast-forward to 2017 when the NHL Vegas Golden Knights arrived on the scene, and the happy hockey-loving couple, along with their two boys, switched their alliance from New York to become loyal VGK fans. When Laura learned of the "Get Married by Ryan Reaves" contest at Chapel of the Flowers, she knew that this would be the perfect ceremony for her and her husband to renew their vows and have a formal wedding.
Laura submitted her entry on social media for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get married by VGK Ryan Reaves, but told husband Justin that she wasn't hopeful they'd win, as she never wins anything. Laura's submission stated:
"I have loved hockey since I was a kid living in New York. We moved to Vegas when I was 9 and I prayed for years for hockey to come to the desert. In 2017 my dreams came true. To see what this team and its players have done for Las Vegas, especially through the struggles we were enduring as a community, has been inspiring. I'm the proud mom of two boys, 7 and almost 3, who look up to the players like the superheroes they are. They are proud to be #vegasborn and we are all proud to be a #vgkfamily!"
The couple was randomly selected from numerous entries on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Laura included in her entry to win the "Get Married by Ryan Reaves" contest that as huge VGK fans, they have a fully decked-out Knights' Toyota Sequoia complete with custom rims and embroidered seats. It was obvious that this dedicated VGK couple definitely deserved to win.
The "Reverend" (as friends called him in his youth) Ryan Reaves arrived at the Chapel ready to officiate in true style, dressed in a designer jade green suit and sharp white shirt. The stunning bride, Laura, walked down the aisle with a VGK-themed bouquet, and her handsome husband, Justin, waited at the altar wearing his beloved VGK shirt. The chapel was filled with enthusiastic guests decked out in their VGK attire.
Reaves flipped the script on Chapel of the Flowers (in true Reaves fashion), adding a couple of jokes and throwing in a shot at Sharks' rival Evander Kane. As Knights' fans waved their rally towels, Reverend Reaves introduced himself as "Kane's worst nightmare."
Special guest of honor, Maria, had introduced the couple but unfortunately couldn't attend the ceremony. Reaves decided that she deserved to be recognized and requested a "stand-in Maria" so she was not forgotten. This was one of the favorite parts of the wedding.
"This was a phenomenal way for Mr. and Mrs. Long to renew their vows with hockey icon Ryan Reaves," said Donne Kerestic, CEO at Chapel of the Flowers. "We love the Vegas Golden Knights and we were honored to have Ryan join us as our guest "reverend" at Chapel of the Flowers!"
