Nightingale College Celebrated the BSN Program's Enrollment Start in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., Aug. 28, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Nightingale College staff, its health care services partners, and local community members gathered at Cheyenne Mountain Center to celebrate the College's newest Dedicated Distance Cohort (DDC) area in Colorado Springs.

The event was hosted at the College's Colorado Springs experiential learning hub on the evening of August 13, 2019. In addition to the ribbon cutting ceremony, the College honored and recognized its local partners who collaborated to bring the College's prelicensure BSN Program to residents of Colorado Springs and adjacent communities.

"All of us at Nightingale College are extremely excited to bring our innovative education delivery model and nursing programs to the Colorado Springs area," said Rob Peterson, Nightingale College's Regional Manager. "We heard from many local health care facilities of the tremendous need for new registered nurses, driven by a significant nursing shortage in the Colorado Springs area, and that having Nightingale College here will open up many opportunities to help alleviate the shortage by developing a confident, competent, and compassionate 'homegrown' nursing workforce."

Alike to the College's other DDC areas, the Colorado Springs DDC network consists of local health care partners that provide learners with experiential learning opportunities in acute, rehabilitation, skilled nursing, psychiatric, obstetric, and pediatric care, facilitated by the College's faculty. Cheyenne Mountain Center, local long-term care and skilled nursing facility, will serve as the DDC's central hub, hosting dedicated space for the College's training equipment used in the experiential learning rotations for the practical application of intervention skills as well as case-based learning.

Nightingale College offers a Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) accredited 32-month Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Program through blended-distance education delivery. Learners in the Program complete the didactic portions of the curriculum online and engage in experiential learning at local health care facilities. The Program is designed for quick access, with 3 new cohorts enrolling every year, and has no waitlists.

In addition to the prelicensure BSN Program, Colorado's licensed RNs are able to enroll into the online 12-month RN-to-BSN Program.

Colorado Springs is the College's thirteenth DDC and first in Colorado.
