Nike Softball Camps Announces New Location at University of Maryland
Nike Softball Camps, a subsidiary of US Sports Camps, the largest provider of sports camps in the world, is thrilled to announce the addition of a new Maryland softball camp.
SAN RAFAEL, Calif., Dec. 18, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The new Nike Softball Camp will be held at University of Maryland, Eastern Shore in Princess Anne. Head Softball Coach Karla Powell will be leading the camp accompanied by her staff coaching staff.
Coach Powell took the reins of the UMES softball program in 2019 after successful stints at George Mason University and Florida Southwestern State College. Upon taking the Head Coaching role at UMES Coach Powell stated, "Starting as a player and through my coaching career to this point, I have always enjoyed seeing a program grow and create a strong culture, so helping build programs is in my blood and I think we can do something special here."
Powell is a University of Wisconsin alumni who had a stellar playing career for the Badgers. She was a two-time All-Big Ten selection who finished her career in the top ten in walks, home runs, and RBIs. As an offensive coach, she likes her team to develop the ability to both hit for power and run the bases.
"We are very excited to be working with Coach Powell and the Hawks coaching staff. The baseball, basketball and volleyball camps we run on campus have become player and parent favorites in the area, and we're thrilled to be able to open this opportunity up for youth softball players as well, in the Somerset County area. This day camp will start August 3rd and run through the 6th. Nike Softball Camps provide focused, intensive training that is essential to improvement for all skill levels. Every facet of the game is covered with an emphasis on fundamentals to help players become valuable team members. Campers are broken into groups with other players of similar age, abilities and goals while the camp director does her best to advance players to the next level all while keeping in consideration each camper's experience and desire to improve.
