NITRO, a vegan cold-brew coffee brand, has begun a new initiative to help healthcare workers stay alert and caffeinated as they fight coronavirus.
Whenever a customer opts to donate a case of cold brew via the NITRO website, the company will match the donation with a second case. The offer has been running for a few weeks already and has been well received by hospitals and weary healthcare workers needing a pick-me-up during long shifts.
“The healthcare workers are the heroes we all needed and they are in need of fuel, so we are proud to be able to take care of that for them, while they take care of those in need,” explains Co-Founder & VP of Sales Mike D’Amico.
One of the main features that makes Nitro cold brew unique is that the cold brew is infused with microbubbles of nitrogen. This creates a naturally creamy and sweet texture and a silky finish - eliminating the need to add sugar or milk. This allows for the product to be vegan, aiding in sustainability by moving away from the use of dairy products.
Adding nitrogen to coffee is not a novel idea, but NITRO has created a unique product by focusing on attention to detail and quality all throughout the process. The Cold Brew Coffee is steeped for 12-24 hours and only Fair-Trade, Single Origin, Certified Organic beans are used.
“Fair-Trade is so important to us because it further promotes the fair treatment of employees, farm owners, and importers,” says D’Amico. “It's easy to pick up a product and not be bothered about how it actually came to be. However, we want to make sure that we are doing everything possible to ensure that everyone, from the farm to the grocery stores, are being treated fairly.”
