Intech Corporation, a precision gear manufacturer and pioneer in plastics engineering located in Closter NJ, has recently upgraded its engineering and gear calculations to incorporate decades of real-world data. Plastics are widely used in a variety of applications due to their low cost and versatility. However, one of the most difficult aspects of working with plastics is the lack of accurate performance data. This is especially true for plastic gears, where there is often no way to accurately calculate lifespan or make proper tooth modifications. Each grade of plastic is different and when you start to look at additives there just isn't enough data available for each material type or from every batch to know the actual performance characteristics.
