Program Empowering Women-Led Businesses Chooses NopSec’s Lisa Xu

When we met Lisa Xu, we immediately recognized the impact that the technology would offer as a first defense and risk mitigation tool against cyber threat.

Springboard Enterprises, in partnership with risk management solutions provider Aon, named NopSec CEO Lisa Xu as 2016-2017 Entrepreneur-in-Residence (EIR). The Springboard/Aon EIR program empowers women-led high growth technology businesses, innovating in the fields of risk and human resources, by providing a year of business support and relevant industry connections.

“Springboard‘s mission to back high-performing women entrepreneurs leading technology businesses and connect them with industry experts is perfectly in line with Aon’s interests in providing cutting edge technology to their global client base,” said Kay Koplovitz, Chairman and co-founder of Springboard. “Matching Lisa Xu’s company with Aon through the EIR program is a win-win for both entities.”

Xu’s company, NopSec, is a leading provider of cyber risk and threat management solutions. Their flagship product, Unified VRM, is a cloud-based solution that allows security and IT teams to work from a single platform to efficiently safeguard their organizations from constantly evolving and proliferating cyber threats. Unified VRM empowers IT teams to deliver measurable business impact through prioritized workflow and effective remediation.

“We created Unified VRM to fill a gap in the market when it comes to threat prioritization and risk remediation," said Xu. "AON validates our vision, and I am excited to be an entrepreneur-in-residence to provide cyber security expertise to a well-established global risk management organization."

Introductions made via the Springboard/Aon EIR program have resulted in NopSec teaming up with the global cyber insurance company XL Catlin to bring their innovative security technology, Unified VRM, to organizations in need of an effective vulnerability risk and threat management platform.

"When we met Lisa Xu, we immediately recognized the impact that the technology would offer as a first defense and risk mitigation tool against cyber threat. Aligning her with specialists from the global insurance markets was a natural step in positioning her business solutions to the insurance cyber marketplace,” said Michael F.X. Murdoch, Managing Director, Aon Risk Solutions.

Industries as diverse as healthcare, retail, and energy are seeing increasingly sophisticated and frequent cyber attacks. Security technology must keep pace with hackers’ continuous adaption. Cyber criminals do not only seek the path of least resistance. Motivated attackers will go to great lengths to acquire valuable data or ransomware payments.

“The increasing adoption of digital business approaches is changing the traditional IT governance and control landscape… Leaders in risk and cybersecurity must now assume the responsibility of providing safety for both people and their environments or, at minimum, participate in providing that safety with other security practices,” notes Gartner Analyst Tom Scholtz. “Risk and security leaders must understand the risks associated with business unit innovation, and balance the imperative to protect the enterprise with the need to adopt innovative technology approaches.”*
