Northern Westchester Hospital Named a 5-Star Hospital In Medicare's Patient Satisfaction Rating
Westchester County, New York (PRWEB) April 20, 2015 -- Northern Westchester Hospital announced today that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services introduced their new 5-star “Patient Experience” rating system as part of their HCAHPS (Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems) survey of hospital patient treatment experience. This national survey asks patients about their experiences during a recent hospital stay.

Northern Westchester Hospital is the first and only hospital in New York State to receive the highest 5-star rating for patient satisfaction and is one of only 251 hospitals in the United States to deliver this level of patient satisfaction.

This new star rating summary is based on 11 components of the patient experience, including: How well doctors and nurses communicate; How well patients believe their pain was managed; Whether they would recommend the hospital to others; among other measures. The HCAHPS scoring system has become the standard upon which commercial ratings systems are based. The 5-Star rating system was implemented to simplify the patient satisfaction results that are featured on the Hospital Compare site. While the new rating system was designed to simplify the data, patients are encouraged to review the complete information shared on the site when making decisions about where to receive their care.
