New Partners Help Steer National Accounting, Consulting Enterprise
SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 3, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- National accounting and consulting enterprise Novogradac welcomed eight principals to the partnership Jan. 1–Andres Abad of the Fort Lauderdale, Florida, office; Melissa Chung of the San Francisco office; John DeJovine and David Graff of the Cleveland office; Kelly McNany Gorman of the Clark, New Jersey, office; Ryan Goyal of the Austin, Texas, office; and Joshua Morris and Austin Power of the Dover, Ohio, office.

Abad focuses on providing auditing and consulting services for a wide range of privately held and publicly traded companies, both domestic and international. Throughout his career, he has provided oversight and review of assurance engagements and provided guidance on complex accounting issues and implementation of new standards. Before joining Novogradac, Abad was a senior manager at Marcum LLP, where he oversaw assurance and consulting engagements for more than 10 years. Abad has extensive experience with clients in many areas, including renewable energy, real estate, manufacturing and distribution, private equity, health care, insurance, professional services, cannabis and employee benefit plans. In addition to providing assurance services, Abad also provides merger and acquisition due diligence, including buyside and sell-side quality of earnings engagements for companies in these industries. Abad is a qualified peer reviewer and regularly performs peer reviews under the AICPA Peer Review Program. Abad is also involved in the development of the firm's staff and participates in training initiatives within Novogradac. He graduated from Florida International University and is licensed in Florida as a certified public accountant.
Chung provides audit, tax and consulting services for affordable housing developments, real estate partnerships and for-profit and nonprofit housing developers in the low-income housing tax credit (LIHTC) industry, and other nonprofit organizations. Chung also has experience with the auditing requirements of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Uniform Guidance, CalHFA, California Department of Housing and Community Development and San Francisco Mayor's Office of Housing and Community Development. In addition, Chung assists LIHTC clients with preparation of financial forecasts used in deal structuring and with LIHTC and tax-exempt bond applications. She serves on the Housing Colorado NOW! Conference and publications committees and is a frequent speaker at various housing conferences and workshops. Chung received a bachelor's degree in economics, with a concentration in accounting and a minor in Chinese studies from the University of California, Berkeley. She is licensed in California as a certified public accountant.
DeJovine specializes in LIHTCs, historic tax credits (HTCs) and new market tax credits (NMTCs). He has extensive experience with financial statement audits, tax return preparation and final cost certifications while working with numerous real estate investors, syndicators and developers. He has also worked extensively on financial modeling, business consulting and structuring for transactions involving HTCs, LIHTC lower-tiers, LIHTC upper-tier funds and NMTCs. DeJovine is a frequent speaker at HTC and LIHTC conferences and events. Additionally, DeJovine is a Housing Credit Certified Professional and worked extensively on compliance service engagements primarily focusing on tenant file compliance. DeJovine received a bachelor's degree in business from Ohio University, a master's degree in accountancy from Cleveland State University and is licensed in Ohio as a certified public accountant.
Gorman works in the company's valuation group. She has extensive experience performing appraisals, market studies, rent comparability studies and consulting services for a broad cross-section of clients in the LIHTC, Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) program and supportive housing worlds, including developers, lenders, syndicators, property managers and state agencies. Specialty work includes rent comparability, market study and appraisal work, community service facility studies, debt valuations, valuations of partnership interests, valuations for gift and estate tax purposes and fair value estimation in accordance with the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), specifically IFRS 13 Fair Value Measurement. Her experience includes working as an asset manager with the Housing Opportunities Commission of Montgomery County, Maryland, managing a portfolio of multifamily properties. Gorman received her degree in urban affairs and planning from Virginia Tech and is a frequent speaker at various industry events. Gorman is licensed as a certified general real estate appraiser in Connecticut, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York.
Goyal specializes in LIHTCs and HTCs. Goyal has worked extensively with numerous real estate investors, syndicators and developers. He is experienced in financial statement audits, HUD audits, tax return preparation, final cost certifications and agreed-upon procedures engagements. He also specializes in commercial and residential development projects. Goyal received his bachelor's degree in accounting from Northern Illinois University and is licensed as a certified public accountant in Texas and Illinois.
Graff works extensively with real estate lower-tier and fund partnership audits and taxation, as well as various GAAP and program compliance consulting engagements involving NMTCs, HTCs, renewable energy tax credits (RETCs) and the opportunity zones (OZ) incentive. Additionally, Graff has experience with federal and state historic cost certifications, financial modeling and agreed-upon procedures engagements involving safe harbor compliance and reporting. He has assisted with due diligence services on several affordable housing sale/purchase transactions. He has contributed to the Novogradac Journal of Tax Credits and is a speaker at the company's NMTC and HTC preconference workshops. Graff holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Ohio University and is licensed as a certified public accountant in Ohio.
Morris provides accounting, tax and consulting services for developments that qualify for federal and state tax credit incentives. Morris works with renewable energy tax credits (investment tax credits and production tax credits), NMTCs, HTCs and the OZ incentive. Morris provides numerous professional services related to these incentives, including financial forecasting/modeling services, consulting on partnership tax structuring, financial statement audits, tax preparation, cost segregation studies and compliance consulting services. His clients include developers/sponsors, syndicators, investors and lenders and he is well known in the space for his ability to create and develop innovative financial modeling products that are a custom fit for his client's needs. In addition to providing partnership tax structuring solutions, Morris provides his clients with integrated GAAP transactional support which includes accounting for investments and equity interests under HLBV. Morris is a frequent speaker at renewable energy conferences and events and provides his clients with on-site training programs. Morris is active in analyzing the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) of 2022 and assists renewable energy clients with interpreting its potential impact on their projects. Morris participates with various industry groups and practitioners to collaborate and build consensus on the emerging issues that the IRA presents and is an advocate in furthering the advancement of clean energy and environmental policy. Morris earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from Youngstown State University and is a licensed certified public accountant in Ohio.
Power specializes in NMTCs, HTCs and OZ transactions. Power works extensively on financial statement audits, tax return preparation, cost certification audits, compliance reporting and NMTC allocation applications. He has contributed to various publications, including the Novogradac Journal of Tax Credits, and is a frequent speaker at conferences on topics related to the NMTC and HTC worlds. He received his bachelor's degree in accounting and finance and his master's degree in business administration from Walsh University. Power is licensed in Ohio as a certified public accountant.
