Numerify, the leader in AI-powered IT Business Analytics for the Global 2000, announced today at the Gartner IT Infrastructure, Operations & Cloud Strategies Conference the release of its artificial intelligence (AI)-powered Major Incident Risk Prediction Engine to help organizations predict and prevent service disruptions.
This new capability is included in the Numerify Service Management Process Optimization solution that provides IT executives with unprecedented visibility and actionable insights into their service management processes.
Many IT operations teams focus on reducing the amount of time it takes to detect and resolve a major incident, understandable given that downtime costs companies over $300,000 per hour. However, the very systems and processes that help detect and respond to a major incident also carry signals that help predict and prevent major incidents from occurring.
The Numerify Major Incident Risk Prediction Engine provides IT operations leaders with an early warning system. Similar to the way the widely adopted Numerify Change Risk Prediction Engine works, machine learning (ML) models sift through historical event data to identify not only risk factors but also their combinations and thresholds that are unique to an individual customer’s environment. These models can correlate structured and unstructured data from multiple transactional and observability systems, including ITSM, APM, CMDB, and DevOps.
Once the engine has identified a business service with a high risk of failure, IT leaders can take proactive action to mitigate or eliminate risk. For example, the model may predict that an application is highly vulnerable on a particular day of the week if there are medium- to high-risk changes planned, a growing number of minor incidents, and a high number of infrastructure alerts. In this scenario, actions may include freezing all changes to the application on that day of the week until infrastructure health improves and assigning a problem team to deal with growing incident clusters.
