Nutrition App, Lifesum, Launches New Widget on iOS 14, Making it Easier for People to Eat Healthier and Achieve Health Goals
Nutrition app, Lifesum, unveils new widget for the Apple iOS 14 launch, becoming the first digital health app to create and launch a health widget for the iPhone.
LOS ANGELES, Sept. 21, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The nutrition app, Lifesum, has unveiled a new widget for the Apple iOS 14 launch, becoming the first digital health app to create and launch a health widget for the iPhone.
Under the redesigned iOS 14, Apple introduced widgets that allow consumers to create shortcuts for their favorite apps. The Lifesum widget allows consumers to easily see their daily health progress, allowing consumers to track their goals and daily nutrients without going into the app.
In previous Apple OS versions, widgets were reserved solely for Apple products. Lifesum is one of the first health apps to produce a widget for the new OS. Consumers are able to adjust the size of the widget, showing more or less information.
The CEO of Lifesum, Henrik Torstensson, said the Lifesum widget allows users to quickly receive nutritional advice and view their progress, helping them make better choices in their daily lives without even opening the app.
"This technology was specifically designed to make it easier for people to eat healthier in their busy lives," said Torstensson. "This widget keeps your health top-of-mind every time you glance at your phone. And that's the root of successful behavior change. Users can now instantly see on their phone or Apple Watch how well they are adhering to their health goals. The technology even gives users alert when they need a push, or accolades when they're achieving their goals."
Apple's iOS 14 is expected to be released in September. At Apple's Keynote Conference this summer, the SVP of software engineering - Craig Federighi - described how to navigate and personalize widgets with iOS 14. Federighi demonstrated it by using the Lifesum widget.
Lifesum and Apple Watch Updates
Apple will also introduce widgets on the Apple Watch for the Series 4 model. Lifesum will now send encouragement and inspirational notes to users through the Apple Watch. These notifications will provide users contextual nutritional advice to help them stay on track such as "hydration o'clock" or "time for a snack!"
Users will also be able to track critical data such as their calorie, fat, and protein intake and calories burned. Previously, these features could only be tracked through the iOS app. Another new Apple Watch feature will incorporate Lifesum circulation on the Watch face by glancing at your wrist. The circulation will display the individual progress over the previous 24 hours.
Lifesum users will need to download Lifesum onto their Apple Watch to access these features.
