The 360 border crossing locations are now fully equipped with more than 8,000 advanced IP cameras. These new devices provide high-definition viewing and recording capabilities; allowing the agency to improve risk identification while reducing the response time to potential security threats. The new surveillance system has also helped the agency become more efficient with border crossing procedures, with new applications and intelligence helping to:
- Reduce the average time spend at a border crossing location by 50%
- Reduce the amount of paperwork required during the import/export process with the integration of QR codes
- Eliminate several personnel interactions at border crossing locations
By leveraging Modern LAN Principles and the NVT Phybridge CLEER24 switch innovation, the agency was able to avoid the traditional "rip-and-replace" process. The solution allowed the agency to deploy the new IP surveillance system using the existing Coax-based infrastructure to improve their outcome. The agency was able to:
