NW Navigator of Oregon, Again Leads the Nation in Green Business.
Portland, OR (PRWEB) March 26, 2015 -- For decades, Oregon has come to be known as the home of companies who are working hard to ensure that their beautiful state stays beautiful for generations to come. This January a local business has once again put an exclamation point on this rich history.
Northwest Navigator Luxury Coaches, an Oregon owned and operated business, won top honors in the national transportation industry when it was awarded the Green Spirit Award by Motorcoach Industries at the annual meeting of the American Bus Association held in St. Louis Missouri.
The Green Spirit Award is an award that is handed out to motorcoach companies that show a dedication to a greener tomorrow in every aspect of their business. Northwest Navigator exemplified those requirements and was very proud to accept the honor.
Owned and Operated by Dynamic Duo, husband, and wife team Joe and Roxanne Gillis this transportation company has grown from their original one bus they purchased in 2008 to now operating a fleet of over 30 vehicles.
“From our very beginnings we have been committed to being a green operator; it is wonderful to be once again recognized for these efforts.” Said Joe Gillis, President of Northwest Navigator. “ We know that this investment in our future not only benefit our families, but help ensure a greener tomorrow for all Oregonians.”
Northwest Navigator has embraced their green initiatives from their inception in 2007 when they quickly became the first green certified company on the west coast through the University of Vermont’s eRating program. That program focuses on driver training, equipment certification and other key components that help reduce participating companies carbon output and ensure that their total impact on the planet is as small as possible.
“Motorcoaches are inherently green.” Said Roxanne Gillis, CEO of Northwest Navigator. “Every time a fully loaded coach heads down the road we help take over 50 cars off the road and not only is that great for the environment but it helps ease Oregon’s growing traffic problems. This program was the next logical step for us and has really helped our entire company culture focus on being green.”
Being Green is only one of the reasons that Oregon is proud to have this growing business listed among it’s ranks, and this award is only one of the growing lists of accolades and accomplishments that this company has collected.
In 2012, 2013 and 2014, Northwest Navigator was also listed as one of Oregon’s 100 fastest-growing companies for the third year in a row by the Portland Business Journal. They have also won the honors as one of Oregon’s top women-owned businesses, been awarded the sustainable tourism award and were recently awarded one of the state's top safety honors when they received Oregon’s first trusted carrier plate for motorcoach operators by Oregon’s Department of Transportation.
“We are proud of our past and excited about our future. We are proud to be from Oregon, and we work hard to bring more and more people here to see what this wonderful state has to offer.” Roxanne Gillis added.
Northwest Navigator Luxury Coaches is quickly becoming one of the top companies to watch in the growing business landscape of Oregon owned and operated companies who are impacting more than their local economies. With two offices now serving both Oregonians and those visiting the great state in both Portland or Bend, no matter where you may be going to or coming from, there is a good chance that Northwest Navigator will be one of the ways you want to get there!
