Occam Global also reports more than 300% growth in its defense technology practice and continued expansion of a venture portfolio now spanning more than 50 early-stage companies.
NEW YORK, Sept. 2, 2026 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Occam Global (Occam), the executive search, advisory, and venture investment firm for founders, boards, and investors across the innovation economy, today announced a series of leadership changes alongside continued momentum across the firm. Effective today, John Holodnak has been named Chief Executive Officer, succeeding co-founder William "Bill" Holodnak, who becomes Chairman. Teresa Reti has been promoted to Partner. The changes come as Occam's defense technology practice has grown by more than 300% over the past year and its venture investing activity has expanded to include more than 50 early-stage companies.
LEADERSHIP TRANSITION
John Holodnak, who co-founded Occam Global in 2012 alongside his father, Bill, has been promoted from President to Chief Executive Officer. Over more than a decade at the firm, John has become one of executive search's most distinguished leaders and a go-to specialist in deep tech and frontier technology, building Occam's reputation among founders, boards, and investors seeking transformative leadership for the world's most ambitious technology companies. As CEO, John will set the firm's overall strategic direction as it continues to grow and expand into new sectors and geographies.
"Being part of building Occam alongside my father for the last fourteen years has been the privilege of my career. As CEO, I'm excited to keep pushing our team deeper into the technologies that will define the next decade — from defense and robotics to AI and the life sciences — and to keep proving that the right leader, found early, changes everything for a company." — John Holodnak, Chief Executive Officer, Occam Global
Bill Holodnak, who co-founded Occam Global in 2012, has transitioned from Chief Executive Officer to Chairman. In his new role, Bill will continue to oversee Occam's client and industry relationships and remain a resource to the firm and its clients, advising the business based on more than 40 years of recruiting experience. He will also continue to work closely with clients on CEO and board-level recruiting, areas in which his relationships and judgment have long set Occam apart.
"Handing the CEO title to John is an easy decision — he has already been leading this firm for years, and I'm simply making it official. After forty years in this business, I'm looking forward to spending more of my time where I add the most value: deepening our client relationships, mentoring our team, and advising boards to get recruiting right at the top." — William "Bill" Holodnak, Chairman, Occam Global
NEW PARTNER
Occam also promoted Teresa Reti to Partner. Reti joined the firm in 2021 and has developed many of the relationships that have become central to Occam's life sciences, technology, and venture capital practices. She brings an unconventional path to executive search: before Occam, she spent more than a decade in the international art world, serving as a gallery director in New York, Hong Kong, and Singapore, and later founding her own art advisory. She holds a BA in Art History, with a minor in Economics, from Stanford University, where she was a National Merit Scholar, and an MBA from the USC Marshall School of Business, where she was a Forte Fellow.
"I came to Occam from a very different yet resonant space – an opaque, relationship-driven market which rewarded the ability to spot creativity and stay ahead of the zeitgeist. Of course, these qualities are also essential to entrepreneurial success and define my approach to my practice as an executive recruiter. Becoming a Partner is a meaningful milestone, and I look forward to working alongside John to bring Occam's principled and spirited approach to company formation into new sectors and geographies." — Teresa Reti, Partner, Occam Global
FIRM GROWTH
The leadership changes come amid continued momentum across the firm. Occam's defense technology practice has grown more than 300% over the past year, reflecting surging demand for executive and board talent as venture and government capital continue to flow into next-generation defense, security, and dual-use technology companies. The firm has expanded its bench of recruiters and advisors dedicated to defense and has placed senior leaders across the sector, reinforcing Occam's position at the center of deep tech and frontier technology recruiting.
Occam's growth extends beyond recruiting. In addition to placing leaders at the world's most ambitious technology companies, the firm invests directly in many of them. Occam has made venture investments in more than 50 early-stage companies spanning robotics, life sciences, defense, consumer, software-as-a-service, digital chemistry, and artificial intelligence, pairing capital with the same hands-on leadership advisory that has defined its search practice for more than a decade.
