OceanX's Video Wins Best Video in Social: Education and Discovery Category in the 23rd Annual Webby Awards

NEW YORK, May 13, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- OceanX announced today that its video entitled The Deepest Dive in Antarctica Reveals a Sea Floor Teeming With Life won a Webby in the category of Social: Education and Discovery in the 23rd Annual Webby Awards. Hailed as the "Internet's highest honor" by The New York Times, The Webby Awards, presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS), is the leading international awards organization honoring excellence on the Internet. OceanX's video was co-produced with BBC Earth as part of the #OurBluePlanet initiative, a digital collaboration of BBC Earth and OceanX.

OceanX is a mission to explore the ocean and bring it back to the world. OceanX's Webby Award-winning video (available here) showcases the first-ever 1000-meter submarine dive in Antarctica and the breadth of incredible marine life in the surrounding ecosystem. The mission to Antarctica, done in partnership with OceanX and BBC Studios as part of their filming for the landmark nature documentary series Blue Planet II, examined the previously unexplored depths of the Antarctic sea, uncovering a glimpse of earth as it existed 250 million years ago. The video was directed by OceanX Media Creative Director Mark Dalio, produced with BBC Earth, and includes cinematography by Janssen Powers, Ted Giffords, Gavin Thurston, Hugh Miller, and James DuBourdieu.
