SAN DIEGO, Sept. 13, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Surrogates by nature are typically quite caring and generous women who selflessly want to give the gift of life to others. "However, you should still be cautious when choosing a surrogate, as this is one of the biggest decisions you will make in your lifetime," said Dr. Kyle Kramer, co-founder of Omega Family Global, which provides surrogacy solutions.
To further educate people on what to look for when choosing a surrogate, Dr. Kramer, a member of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine, lists the following three tips:
No. 1: The surrogate should be healthy all around. "It's imperative that the surrogate live a healthy lifestyle," stressed Dr. Kramer. "This includes being smoke-, drug- and alcohol-free. She should also abstain from caffeine, eat healthy and be an emotionally well-balanced person."
No. 2: The surrogate should have a support system in place. Surrogacy can be an extremely emotional experience for the surrogate, which is why a support system is crucial. "This can include her parents, friends, roommate, partner, husband, etc.," added Dr. Kramer.
No. 3: Conduct extensive research. "When choosing a surrogate it's important to look beyond the surface of the person. They might seem like a wonderful person and the right match, but their backgrounds should be checked (Omega conducts very extensive background checks that include financial liabilities). Even if you really like the surrogate candidate, one should always conduct a background check," concluded Dr. Kramer. "Do a criminal background check, check their health and mental health history, as well as their pregnancy history (medical records). Investigating their living situation is also very important. Is it safe and clean? Who are the people she is living with?"
"Omega Family Global helped us find a great surrogate, manage our trust account meticulously, and was patient in working with me on the surrogacy contract," noted client JZ.
