On-Demand Lactation Support Provider boober to Host Free Lactation Support Group for Black Breastfeeding Week 8/31

Black Breastfeeding Week is an annual event that was created by Kimberly Seals Allers, Kiddada Green, and Anayah Sangodele-Ayok to highlight the long-term gaping "racial disparity in breastfeeding rates."
The free lactation support group, which will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at boober's sister organization Birth Day Presence at 182 8th Avenue in Park Slope, Brooklyn, will be hosted by Simone Toomer, CLC, founder of Wise Womban Doula. "Our relationship to food starts immediately, whether at the breast or bottle," says Toomer, who is passionate about lactation support. "However black women are more likely to bottle feed, their babies more likely to receive formula and less likely to reach their goals around breastfeeding. This issue is multilayered, but lack of resources is one of them. This group will provide evidence-based support to families to further the mission of providing non-biased and accurate education and support for more black and brown families to feed with success."
