WARRENVILLE, Ill., Oct. 23, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- A nation-wide coalition of leading organizations, associations, trade groups and societies have come together in support of convenient care, urgent care, emergency medicine, retail medicine, worksite clinics, and telehealth. This coalition called the On-Demand Medicine Association Collaborative will discuss and address common industry challenges of the on-demand healthcare industry and to support more accessible healthcare across the country.
The inaugural meeting held on July 17, 2019 was attended by the senior leaders of six prominent organizations within this growing healthcare segment. Attending were: Larry Boress, Executive Director, the National Association of Worksite Health Centers (NAWHC); Tine Hansen-Turton, MGA, JD, FCPP, FAAN, Executive Director, the Convenient Care Association (CCA), Sabrina Smith, DRHA, Executive Director, Center for Applied Research in Telehealth (CART), ATA, Laurel Stoimenoff, PT, CHC, CEO, the Urgent Care Association (UCA); Juli Forde, Board Member, the Emergency Department Practice Management Association (EDPMA); and Bill Bruce, MBA, CAE, CEO, American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM). In addition to those who attended in-person Magna Dias, MD, President, Board of Directors, the Society for Pediatric Urgent Care (SPUC) will also participate in future endeavors.

During the first meeting of the On-Demand Medicine Association Collaborative, the group initiated discussions on a number of timely subjects ranging from regulatory and reimbursement advocacy to the challenges of the opioid crisis. While each organization has a different strategic agenda, common areas where collective advocacy could be beneficial were identified. The participating groups intend to address this common ground with a unified voice, representing countless members and consumers across the country.
The collaborative will meet on a regular basis, and will prioritize the most relevant issues which may include reducing administrative costs, refining the role of on-demand care as a partner in the medical neighborhood, providing input on national standards for licensing, credentialing and scope of practice, and developing an educational platform to address the current opioid crisis. Current participants in the discussion are empowered by these initiatives which will yield improvements in care delivery, administrative efficiency and patient outcomes. Meetings are open to other organizations in the on-demand care space.
