One Child Matters Names Dr. Scott Todd Organization's New President

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., Sept. 4, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- One Child Matters, a leading international child development organization that supports local programs around the world to meet the physical and spiritual needs of children living in poverty, appointed Dr. Scott C. Todd to be the organization's new president.
Dr. Todd brings 15 years of experience as a nonprofit leader and has a passion for serving children in poverty. One Child Matters currently serves more than 40,000 children in 14 countries around the world. Dr. Todd served as an executive leader for the organization since 2016.
Dr. Todd seeks to mobilize what he calls, "a global community of child champions" to reach children at a much larger scale.
He is an award-winning scientist and medical researcher. He earned his Ph.D. in immunology from the University of California and was a National Lymphoma Foundation Scholar at Stanford University Medical Center. Dr. Todd helped pioneer research that led to the discovery of a novel class of therapeutics to treat the hepatitis C virus infection.
After his ground-breaking work in the medical field, Dr. Todd had an experience that changed the course of his life. "About 15 years ago, God called me to leave medical research to serve kids in poverty around the world," says Dr. Todd. "I had a very clear, strong sense that this is God's call."
Dr. Todd left the medical field and began working at Compassion International. During his 12 years of leadership there, Dr. Todd passionately championed protection and opportunity for at-risk children and youth. Dr. Todd represented a portfolio of donor countries generating over $200M per year in revenue and developed and led Compassion's Global Advocacy work. Dr. Todd also launched Compassion's HIV/AIDS Initiative, Compassion's Child Survival Program, and special programs for Highly Vulnerable Children.
In addition, Dr. Todd served as chairman of the board for Accord, a network of Christian relief and development organizations operating a budget of nearly $4B annually. He is the founder and board chair of Live58 and executive producer of 58: The Film. He has also established Integrated Philanthropy to promote people-centered nonprofit programs.
Dr. Todd authored and co-authored three books, including Hope Rising, as well as Compassion's Ministry Philosophy Series and over a dozen scientific articles.
