A new survey finds that over one-third of hiring managers are more likely to interview job applicants who include their preferred pronouns on their resume
SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 18, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- ResumeBuilder.com, the premier resource for free and professional resume templates, has published a recent study on how hiring managers feel about job applicants listing their preferred pronouns on their resumes. The survey highlights key information on the percentage of hiring managers who have a preference for applicants who list their pronouns.
Research findings indicate that 38% of hiring managers are more likely to interview an individual who lists she/her or he/him pronouns on their resume, and 33% are more likely to interview an applicant who lists they/them pronouns. Of this 33%, more than half say this is to meet diversity and inclusion initiatives and because they believe the candidate would mesh well with company culture.
The findings also show that 14% of hiring managers are less likely to interview applicants listing she/her or he/him pronouns, and 16% are less likely to interview candidates listing they/them pronouns. The top reasons given were concerns about wokeness and cancel culture, as four in ten hiring managers say pronouns do present at least somewhat of an issue in the workplace.
Additionally, around half of hiring managers say they are not influenced one way or the other by a candidate including pronouns on their resume.
"Pronouns have become much more common on LinkedIn and are gaining traction on resumes as well," commented career consultant Stacie Haller. "It's important for managers to quickly adapt to a changing environment that makes it increasingly more difficult to attract and retain talent in order to grow their organization."
