New York, NY (PRWEB) November 26, 2013 -- One Direction, the English-Irish pop boy band that is based out of London, has announced a new North American tour for 2014 titled, "Where We Are." The group made the announcement on Tuesday, November 26th, on Good Morning America. The stadium tour currently features 21 dates across Canada and the United States beginning on August 1st of 2014. More dates are expected to be added to the tour before it begins in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, at the Rogers Centre, but for now, fans can make plans to head to the closest venue to see the popular act.
One Direction released their third album this week. The group has already released two singles off the new album, "Best Song Ever" and "Story of My Life." They are hoping to reach the success of their previous two albums. Their debut album from 2011, "Up All Night," has sold more than 4.5 million copies worldwide including more than 1.6 million in the United States. Their second release, "Take Me Home," was released almost exactly a year later and has seen record sales total more than 4.4 million, including more than 1.7 million in the states. Both albums reached the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 charts and with their popularity at all-time high, chances are great that Midnight Memories will reach the top spot as well.
The group has continued to gain popularity since their debut album. One Direction put on one of the best performances at the American Music Awards last weekend and also took home awards for "Favorite Album, Pop/Rock" and "Favorite Band, Duo/Group, Rock/Pop." The band will soon venture to NBC as performers on Saturday Night Live and are currently featured prominently by Macy's for their new line of fragrances. The ads feature spoofs of each member's trademark hairstyle.
The "Where We Are" tour will travel to some of the most popular stadiums in North America including Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Massachusetts; Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis, Missouri; Alamo Dome in San Antonio, Texas; and Sun Life Stadium in Miami, Florida. The tour is tentatively scheduled to end in Miami on October 5th.
