One heroine tries to stop two villains in a world suddenly torn apart by racism in new novel
Matthew J. Croutch announces publication of his debut work 'Together They Fall'
CALGARY, Alberta, July 6, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Captain Ayleen Ebella investigates 13 sacrificial deaths perpetrated by a mad wizard while balancing Elvish society standards and a threat even bigger than murder in Matthew J. Croutch's new fantasy novel "Together They Fall: The Cubes of Destiny Book 1" (published by Archway Publishing).
On the Elvish continent of Giana, Captain Ayleen Ebella is investigating a series of deaths. After a catastrophic life-altering event at the New Year's Eve celebration, she is desperate to figure who the Mad Wizard of Thaldor is before he strikes again. Together with Tyran, a thief turned informant, she has to race against time to stop the wizard. Meanwhile, Princess Dariusa starts her own cult in effort to try and seize the throne from her mother, Queen Merri. Three questions are on Ayleen's mind; how could one person divide an entire continent, who is the bigger threat, and how does she reunite a people torn apart by colour?
"This book is more multi-faceted than others typically are… It has a strong female lead. It delicately addresses racism and is action-packed," Croutch says. He adds that he wants readers to "have fun, think about racism and look forward to the next book in the series."

About the Author
Born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Matthew J. Croutch had an interest in story-telling from a very young age. However, due to being born with cerebral palsy, he had trouble with motor and speech skills. It wasn't until 18 years later, after he moved to Calgary, Alberta, that he completed his first novel with scribing assistance from his mother and grandmother. Croutch has always been a fan of science fiction and fantasy novels, movies and video games. He always dreamed of making his own role-playing video game but upon going to university for his IT degree, he realized that video game design was beyond his capabilities due to the lack of fine motor skills. He then chose to focus on his English degree at Athabasca University; taking various courses in creative writing.
