One Million Miles Walked for Homeless Animals
New York, NY (PRWEB) April 22, 2015 -- ResQwalk, a free mobile app available for iOS and Android, launched on June 27th, 2014. The app enables animal lovers to earn donations for their favorite animal charity just by walking. Since the app became available, animal lovers have walked over 1,000,000 miles and generated over $68,000 for animal rescues and shelters across the United States and Canada.
“Our goal is to make giving easy,” said Bailey Schroeder, Founder of ResQwalk. “People don’t always have money to donate or time to volunteer. With ResQwalk we give people the opportunity to contribute to a great cause while doing something fun and healthy – walking.”
Each week ResQwalk announces a donation pool that has been provided by a corporate partner. At the end of the week, the pool is divided up amongst the animal rescues and shelters based on how many miles their supporters have walked that week.
“There are 2.7 million healthy animals euthanized in the shelter system each year,” said Schroeder. “At the same time, there are thousands of dedicated rescues and shelters working to bring this number down. Our mission is to help these groups by providing them with money and by introducing new supporters to their organizations.”
ResQwalk currently supports 1,700 animal rescues and shelters across the United States and Canada. “Our target is to sign-up an additional 3,000 organizations over the next twelve months and secure a long-term corporate partner to keep increasing the size of our weekly donation pools,” said Schroeder.
ResQwalk is based in New York City and has plans to release an updated version of the app this summer with expanded social features and additional opportunities for people to help their favorite animal rescues and shelters.
