SR Education Group Publishes Report Of 47 Online Colleges Providing The Strongest Support For Students With Disabilities
Kirkland, Washington (PRWEB) April 19, 2017 -- SR Education Group, an education research publisher founded in 2004, just released the 2017 Top Online Schools for Students with Disabilities, a list of online colleges that provide the highest level of support, the widest breadth of accommodations, and the most comprehensive resources for students with disabilities. In order to be considered, colleges were required to offer 4 or more fully online degrees or 10 or more online programs including certificates. For the 1,265 schools that met the criteria for inclusion, SR Education Group researched a wide variety of factors indicative of a school’s level of support for students with disabilities and calculated a Disability-Friendly Score using an internal algorithm. Factors considered include thoroughness of resources, Universal Design for Learning (UDL) training for faculty, availability of distance learning accommodations, and the variety of services provided. Forty-seven colleges made the list, each receiving a score greater than 50 out of 100.
The colleges with the highest Disability-Friendly Scores are featured in the Top 15 Online Schools for Students with Disabilities. Each of these exceptional schools earned a Disability-Friendly Score above 77. Stanford University, with a score of 96.67, earned the number one spot. Stanford provides support and accommodations for students with disabilities in a variety of ways; for example, the Stanford Online Accessibility Program (SOAP) is an extensive program that helps staff members create disability-friendly online content. The Top 15 ranking, available on GuidetoOnlineSchools.com, provides additional details about each school's unique efforts to provide support for students with disabilities.
In addition to researching available resources, accommodations, and training programs, SR Education Group also collected tuition data for the 47 Top Online Schools for Students with Disabilities. The 25 with the lowest annual tuition rates were ranked as the 2017 Most Affordable Online Colleges for Students with Disabilities. The list, available on OnlineU.org, highlights schools providing high levels of support as well as low tuition costs. The average annual tuition rate of the ranked schools is just $11,964.
Cleveland State University, with a Disability-Friendly Score of 69.33 and an annual tuition rate of $4,374, is ranked #1 for most affordable.
